Getting the hang of this April 28, 2007

I am very v e r y slowly getting the hang of this, but already I’m finding it really useful. I’ve talked about what we’re learning with some work colleagues, and they seem pretty impressed…or very polite!

I’ve got a student on placement with me at the moment and I can really see the value in some of the Web 2.0 tools we’ve learnt so far for her. Supervising a student always makes me realise how much knowledge and skills we take for granted, so it’s really interesting learning alongside her – albeit about something completely different.

This is my first posting from home. We, or should that be my other half (!!!) has a Mac, and I just can’t seem to get the hang of using it. So far so good today though – I’ve nearly done alll my weekends homework, yay!

We’re in class two and I’m not having much luck making categories! Will give it a minute to have a think about it, and go and have another look….fingers crossed!

Here I am again April 4, 2007

I’m an occupational therapist participating in a research project to learn more about the use of web 2 tools for occupational therapists. Many (many, many!) years ago I took a paper with the same lecturer about the use of the Internet in occupational therapy. I remember having the same feelings of newness and how strange and foreign it all seemed. I know though that in a few weeks I’ll wonder how I got by for so long without this stuff.

 Yesterday I showed a colleague some of what we’ve looked at so far, and it was funny how impressed she was – she really thought I knew what I was talking about! Strange how quickly some of this stuff becomes natural I guess!

So this is the first time I’ve had to think of something to put in this blog. There is SO much to learn and it all seems so new at the moment, but i’m sure in a few weeks i’ll have forgotten how foreign it is feeling now.
